The Contributing artists are contemporary and experimental in their approach, employing a variety of media, including painting, installation, photography, assemblage and virtual reality.
For this year's Harwich Festival of the Arts, they have created an interactive exhibition.
The sublime may be defined as awe and wonder when facing that which is beyond our understanding.
Come and meet the artists on the 25th June at the Harwich Arts and Heritage Centre between 11am and 4pm. Gallery at Room 6, Main Road, Mayflower School, Dovercourt, CO12 4AJ.

A contrast between beauty and splendour and the domestic maid
Multidisciplinary artist Tracy Satchwill will transform one of the rooms at Normanby Hall into a playful and colourful display, that interprets the role of the maid in houses across England, delving into their perspectives, including hopes and dreams.
During a six-month artist residency at Normanby Hall in 2021-22, Satchwill was commissioned to create a new series of work that would interpret the collection in new and exciting ways.
Many servants, as Satchwill says, enjoyed comfortable standards of living in stately homes such as Normanby Hall, however, there were many who were treated as inferior beings, with shocking stories of snobbery, lack of liberty and cruelty. Sadly, there are limited servants’ records at the Hall, it is believed a Mistress ordered the documents to be burnt, as they were perceived as insignificant.
That’s not my name exhibition runs from 4 March 2022 to 4 January 2023 at Normanby Hall, North Lincolnshire.

Larain Briggs to exhibit apocalyptic new painting at the Colchester Art Society Winter Exhibition
Larain Briggs: “Zeitgeist”, 80cm x 80cm, Acrylic on linen
Larain Briggs will be exhibiting a painting from her brand new series at the Colchester Art Society Winter Exhibition from 4th December - 22nd December at ‘We Are The Minories’ Trinity Square Art Space in Trinity Square, Colchester, CO1 1JR. Open Monday - Saturday 10am - 4pm excluding the 11th and 18th December.
Brigg’s work is currently focused on the theme of Jung’s concept of the archetype of the apocalypse. She draws on philosophical concepts of the Sublime and looks specifically to the Romantics for inspiration. This work is intended to be unsettling, disturbing and enticing.
Brigg’s process incorporates digital manipulation of a traditional romantic painting converted back into traditional painting. Her concerns are focused around the epoch of humanity and its impact upon the natural environment, specifically, technology in line with the Romantics response to the industrial revolution.

Laure Van Minden and Chris Dowding to give first live performance of emotive Black Lives Matter project
'Black Lives Matter' was a recorded subscription project - a monthly collaboration between Norwich-based trumpeter Chris Dowding and artist Laure Van Minden.
From September 2020, Chris recorded two tracks each month, each track a playing of the name of someone who has died or been attacked in relation to the BLM movement. Laure responded with artwork, and they sent out two postcards each month to their subscribers, one for each name.
They will perform a selection of the pieces live, with Laure's drawing projected live on Friday 29th October in the Undercroft in Norwich.
Just turn up on the night! It's a free event although donations are welcome and profits will go to a BLM organisation.

Tim and Katie Christie launch YoGallery to explore wellbeing links in yoga and art
Earlier this year, artist Tim Christie and office-worker-turned-yogi Katie Christie had a brainwave.
After months of Tim’s arts supplies being strewn around the couple’s home, and Katie pondering leaving her corporate career to explore yoga professionally, the closure of a large fabric store in central Wellington signalled a perfect opportunity to merge their interests.
“Initially we thought maybe that’s just fanciful thinking,” Tim says. “And then, when we thought about it with a more pragmatic lens and more audience-centric [lens], we realised, actually, there’s a genuine opportunity here. ”
And so YoGallery was born.
